In a world where people are constantly bombarded with ads from every angle, your brand’s biggest threat isn’t your competitors. It’s being ignored.
That’s why the first job of great advertising is stopping people in their tracks. The second is making that interruption worthwhile by having something to say.
Sergeant Walnuts is an independent advertising agency in Manchester, led by two founders who’ve crafted countless ad campaigns for major brands all over the world. It was our aim to build an ad agency we’d hire ourselves. Good people doing great work. The kind of communications agency that creates campaigns for businesses that would rather be noteworthy than noisy.
*Officially according to us. But unlike some big agencies, we haven’t charged you for the meeting where we agreed it.
Tell us what you need. We’ll tell you what we can do.

Some agencies are very good at being agencies. Strategy departments, creative departments, account departments, production departments, departments that arrange meetings between the departments. All very impressive. All ultimately charged to you.
We built Sergeant Walnuts differently. We’re an independent advertising agency, which means the people you brief are the people who think about the problem, find the idea and shape the work. No junior teams learning on your budget. Just direct access to experienced creative minds who know how to build eye-catching communications across TV, film, outdoor, press, radio, digital, social, and wherever else your audience happens to be.
Big agency standards without the big agency circus. That’s Walnuts.
We’d love to hear your brief.
Betting is a noisy business. So for Betfred, we created a line simple enough to land and sharp enough to stick. Rooted in the truth that a race can be won by a nose, Pick Your Nose became a flexible multi-channel campaign across press, OOH, radio, social, digital display, YouTube and retail.
Spin Doctor was an award-winning lager close to being delisted. We turned its name into a world of political spin, fake news and very real beer, from a parody newspaper to the kit on the bar. Sales and engagement rose by 400%.
For Manchester Building Society, we created a visual identity and communications system rooted in all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester. Not the usual tired Manchester clichés. A colourful, inclusive brand that reflected the place it was made to serve.
